What a race! That's the Grand National done for another year, head over to Grand National Thoughts to see what we made of this year's race!
I placed bets on my selections 2 weeks ago as the odds were likely to be better. I've added the prices I took.
Longhouse Poet The same trainer that was successful in 2006 with Numbersixvalverdee, and he's plotted the same course with this horse 22/1 e/w (6th)
Run Wild Fred Probably has to carry more weight than ideal but the trip won't be a problem for him and he's bang on form 22/1 e/w (Fell)
Eclair Surf A true stayer that's unexposed and has a nice racing weight. Always inclined to make at least one dodgy jump, but if he doesn't he'll have a great chance 28/1 e/w (Fell)
Fiddlerontheroof Been knocking on the door all season. Hopefully the extra distance will be to his advantage 14/1 e/w (5th)
And my bigger priced selection is:
De Rasher Counter Trained for the race by Emma Lavelle who reports that he's flying at home and believes that he has a great chance 40/1 e/w (UR)
I have made my selections based on jockey bookings, the trainer of the horse, my own gut feeling and, of course, my knowledge. I've backed all horses each way.
Current SP prices (taken from BET365) are included against each horse
Longhouse Poet 16/1 (6th)
Run Wild Fred 16/1 (Fell)
Snow Leopardess 9/1 (PU)
Burrows Saint 20/1 (UR)
And my bigger priced selection is:
Kildisart 40/1 (Fell)
